Macadamia Costs and Returns
TML has established costs and returns to set up a 1ha macadamia block based on three ‘A’ macadamia varieties with spacing of 6 metres between rows and 3 metres between macadamia trees within those rows.

Initial set-up costs include shelterbelts, preferably seedling macadamia plants. Ongoing costs include additional fertiliser, mulching, mowing and harvesting, de-husking and drying the NIS before delivery to the factory.
Macadamia Returns
The following table is an estimate of the gross returns from a mix of three ‘A’ macadamia varieties - beginning at year three when only 300 of the young 555 macadamia trees are producing. The trees should be averaging 10-15kg NIS from year 10 onwards. Wholesale kernel prices range from $20kg Processing Grade to $28kg 1st Grade. Retail kernel prices range from $49.95kg to $59.95kg. Retail added-value macadamia product and confectionery returns range from $65kg - $120kg.
